Nouvelle-Aquitaine: Between vineyards, endless beaches and historical treasures

Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the largest region in France, is a land of contrasts and infinite riches. From the Atlantic coastline to the green valleys of the Périgord, from the prestigious vineyards of Bordeaux to the mountains of the Pyrenees, every nook and cranny tells a story and invites you to marvel.

The Atlantic coast is a real gem for sea lovers. The immense beaches of the Côte d'Argent, ideal for surfing, stretch as far as the eye can see. The Arcachon basin, with its cabanes tchanquées (huts on stilts) and majestic Dune du Pilat, is a must-see destination for lovers of seascapes and invigorating walks. Further south, seaside resorts such as Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz combine elegance and Basque traditions.

The inland areas reveal cultural and natural treasures. Bordeaux, the region's capital, charms visitors with its classical architecture, lively quaysides and numerous museums. But the region is not limited to this iconic metropolis: medieval villages such as Sarlat-la-Canéda and Saint-Émilion, listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, take visitors on a journey through time. The Dordogne and the Lot are full of castles, prehistoric caves such as Lascaux, and bucolic landscapes conducive to relaxation.

The gastronomy of Nouvelle-Aquitaine is as varied as its landscapes. Wine, of course, occupies a central place: the Bordeaux wines, from Médoc to Pomerol, are world-renowned. Culinary specialties such as foie gras, duck breast or Périgord truffles are a delight for epicureans. Seafood, especially Marennes-Oléron oysters, also have pride of place on local tables.

The Pyrenees, with their snow-capped peaks and green valleys, offer an exceptional setting for mountain and outdoor sports enthusiasts. Basque traditions, including Basque strength, pelota and colorful festivals, add a unique cultural dimension to this already rich region.

New Aquitaine, with its nature, history and art de vivre, is a constant invitation to discover and escape.
