The Comunidad Valenciana: Beaches, Festivals and Mediterranean Flavors

The Comunidad Valenciana is a vibrant destination; a land where the sun shines almost all year round, the Mediterranean washes golden beaches and tradition mixes with modernity. From cosmopolitan cities to small coastal villages, this region offers culture, gastronomy and nature at its best.

Valencia, the capital, is a city that looks to the future without forgetting its history. The City of Arts and Sciences, with its futuristic architecture, contrasts with the old town, where the Cathedral, the Central Market and the Silk Exchange are reminders of its commercial splendour. Its beaches and the Albufera Natural Park, the birthplace of paella, complete its appeal.

Alicante is another Mediterranean jewel. Its imposing Santa Bárbara Castle dominates the city from on high; the port and the Explanada promenade invite you to enjoy the sea. A few kilometers away, the Costa Blanca dazzles with coves of crystalline waters and charming villages such as Altea or Jávea.

Castellón, the northernmost province, surprises with its coastline and mountainous interior. Peñíscola, with its Templar castle overlooking the sea, is one of the most beautiful images of the region. In Morella, a walled medieval town, time seems to have stood still.

The beaches of Valencia are some of the most popular in Spain. From the lively Malvarrosa to the idyllic Cala Granadella, there is something for everyone. But the region also has fascinating inland landscapes, such as the Montgó Natural Park or the Sierra de Espadán.

Valencian gastronomy is world famous thanks to paella, a dish that reaches its maximum expression here. But fideuá, esgarraet and pumpkin fritters are also outstanding. To accompany it, nothing better than horchata with fartons or a glass of Utiel-Requena wine.

Festivals are an essential part of Valencian identity. Las Fallas, with its impressive cardboard monuments and spectacular mascletàs, is one of the most impressive celebrations in Spain. In Castellón, the Magdalena fills the city with tradition, while in Alicante, the Bonfires of Saint John light up the night with fire and joy.

The Valencian Community is light, color and life. A Mediterranean destination that combines history, fun and the unmistakable taste of the sea.
